A Walk in the woods...Text Box: Yesterday, my friend Sandy and I took the girls out in the woods behind our house to find a ‘secret’ path to our houses through the woods. Sandy and I in the woods...well, needless to say, we took the longest route possible—but we found A LOT of cool stuff! We found lots and lots of deer bones. We know that people hunt behind our house, but we didn’t know they just dump the deer, not even eating them. We found countless bones and skulls back there. We collected them and decided they would make good additions to our Celtic garden!
Text Box: Under a hunters platform we found these HUGE bones. We guess they are cow bones, but are not sure why they would be under the tree stand. Then, a walk through the woods uncovered lots of other skeletal remains. Sandy is bone woman...she can always find them in the woods. I’d walk past them 15 times before I’d notice! Audrey was getting good at spotting them too!
Text Box: However, the absolute coolest thing we found was the remains of a weather balloon! That was very cool to find just walking through the woods. I have several emails in to various companies trying to find out any information we could about it. I will let you know if we find out anything!
Text Box: The nice thing about a winter walk in the woods is you can see the real ‘bones’ of the woods (no pun intended)—past evidence of beavers, a deserted beautiful nest, and these shelf fungi were among the things that made our walk very interesting...but the weather balloon was the coolest!
