STONE MOUNTAIN

On our last day in Atlanta we went to Stone Mountain.  We had NO idea how cool this place was, or we would have come earlier!!

Text Box: It is an actual “stone” that goes 825 feet up, and stretches more than 10 miles underground and into the surrounding counties. At the top, it was like walking on the moon! The kids thought this was totally AWESOME—and that made the whole trip worthwhile. On the park side, they have carved a sculpture of Confederate President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee, and General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. This may not seem so big, but it is three acres wide (larger than a football field) and forty-two feet deep. How CrAzY is that???

Look! A geodetic marker!  We learned about these at Natural Bridge!  Very cool to see one up here.

Text Box: And while the stone mountain was really cool...the really cool thing we did was the tree top adventure course. It was AWESOME for all ages...except Maureen (chicken) and Cade (too short). But, she got some great photos!! Thanks Maureen! :)
