While many of you will be returning to the grind of the school day—we are heading out to the Costa Rican rainforest! We had planned to go to Yellowstone, but when we could not get hotel rooms, we opted for this. Oddly, it originally cost about the same (although with all the binoculars and flashlights I have bought it probably cost much more!) We are staying at Casa Linda in the Osa region. Our house is a Swiss Family Robinson style house meaning it has no ‘real’ windows. We are sure to be awakened by howler monkeys and have a yard full of scarlet macaw parrots. The kids have been studying up about the rainforest, especially Audrey who has been looking to see how many different animals she can find. Below is her list she emailed me—cute huh? I want to see these animals while I’m there… This is a jaguarondis… SO cute!
A Coati! I think they are like the Raccoons of the rainforest…
A tayra…
A jaguar….
An Ocelot…
A panther…
Toucans…. Scarlet Macaws…..
Armadillos….. Anteaters……
Red Eyed tree frogs!!! SO CUTE!! Poison dart frogs…. Which I will not be touching! Parrots…. These little guys
Pretty much whatever I can see there!!!!! Which I hope I see EVERYTHING!! :D
There are no phones, internet, TV, video games...so we will seem out of touch for a while. But, you can bet that I will be making pages every night about our adventures and in two weeks they will be posted!
Hope you guys enjoy the start of school as much as we will! |
