Ducklings Week 5 and 6

The ducklings continue to thrive in our yard.  They are on a new routine.  They spend their nights in the raccoon cage at night, and in the morning I walk up and let them out.  They spend more of their day around the pond in the bushes and plants on the ponds edge.  They have mostly all of their adult feathers, but are not flying yet.  I think they should figure this part out soon.  Right now, they are very hard to catch when we are going to leave—once they can fly we will probably give them freedom

To us, it seems Malena’s duck (right front) may be a girl.  Her feather color is smoother than the others, and a lighter brown in color.  The others are very dark, and Audrey’s (above) has a hint of green on his head.  We won’t know for sure until they go through the second molt at about 16 weeks.

Lil Rounds is still clearly ‘developmentally delayed’ compared to the others, but, she is still trucking along!
