Did you know the symbol of Southern hospitality is the pineapple?  There were plenty of pineapples to welcome us into downtown Charleston.  Along the water was a long park full of all sorts of Southern hospitality! 

This super cool fountain was great for the kids to play in.  There was a field trip of young black children who were full of hospitality for out of town guests!  They were so cute!

This little cutie wanted to pour this on Malena’s head...but in her Southern hospitality way...she asked first! 

Charleston is the port of a rich and colourful history of the South.  It has something for everyone.  Named after a king, invaded by the dread pirate Blackbeard, and a major port in all historical wars that formed our country, it is a place that has it all!  Our favorite spot downtown was the Charleston Waterfront Park.  Aside from a beautiful walk along the water, it has fountains, fiddler crabs, old boats and the best?  A huge fountain for the kids to play and cool off in!

All around Charleston are “Turtles Around Town” a project which people buy these turtle sculptures and the money goes toward turtle rescue.  Each turtle has a different theme.  The one above with the seashells, I took a close up to show the level of detail in each.  The kids had fun spotting them “around town!”
