Bonaventure CemeteryText Box: You really don’t need to spend much time with me before you will realize I have a slight obsession with cemeteries. Everywhere you look in Savannah all you ever see is the statue known simply as “Bird Girl” which was featured on the cover of the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Turns out, that sculpture was in Bonaventure Cemetery. Well, it was there. It really drew no attention until people saw it on the cover of that book. Then, apparently people became so crazed over it, they had to remove it, and its current location is unknown. It was bronze cast statue, and it was one of four in the world. So, the owners promptly removed it from the cemetery when it became a source of possible theft or vandalism. So, no statue. But, while there I did get into many OTHER beautiful statues that grace the grounds of Bonaventure Cemetery.
Text Box: This was sad, all of this families children lived one year and a few days. They were all buried together with lovely stones.
