Georgia Aquarium!

We were supposed to do the aquarium right after the Coke tour—but it was so crazy we opted to come Easter Sunday morning figuring we could be the crowds!  We were right!  It made for an awesome experience at the biggest aquarium in the world!

The kids got right to work in the touch tanks where they had rays, sharks, anemones, and sea stars.  They even had a presentation on the Right Whale.  Nice to know Malena can fit inside the jaws of that quite nicely!  Glad I didn’t know that then!  The kids were shocked at how different a ray and a shark feel.

One very cool aspect of the tanks for me was that they were EVERYWHERE—even overhead!  We thought that was pretty cool.  There were also lots of places for the kids to crawl “inside” the tank!  We also learned that the purple sea star with the thick webbing is called a ‘bat sea star’— It was nice to see my kids jazzed about my favorite aquarium guy “Nico” the Beluga Whale!~

But we all agree, the strangest thing was this Cuttlefish.  Doesn’t it look like a dog?  Weird huh???

Favorites on our tour included the Sea Otters, the Sea Dragons, and the Garden Eels!  Did you know that one sq inch of otter skin contains 1 million hairs??  A dog only has 60 K!
