Girl Scouts Closing CeremonyText Box: Tonight the girls had their closing ceremony for the year. It was a big deal for Malena, because she bridged to a full fledged Brownie. This is her with her Daisy leader Julie, and they are looking proud!
Text Box: Audrey received her final Jr Badges for the year from her leader Maureen. She even had a yearbook listing all the badges she’d earned this year, and they did a lot! Afterwards, we celebrated with the families of the Scouts with a pizza party and lots of desserts!

Juliette Gordon Low's BirthplaceText Box: When I asked Richard what to do in Savannah that would be different, he suggested the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts. Well, since we are two girl scouts now, and one leader, we decided it was a good idea to see her home.
Text Box: Located right in downtown Savannah, Audrey, Malena, Cade and I went on the tour. She was an interesting woman, who did lost of artwork that is still located in the home. Naturally, we could not photograph inside the home, but, we saw many of her busts made from plaster, and painting she did of family members.
Text Box: Things we learned:
Juliette grew up in this house
She had many brothers and sisters.
She was married and divorced with no children
Because of this, she met the founder of boy scouts who got her to start a group for girls
They were originally called ‘Girl Guides’
Julliette’s nickname was Daisy
She was very artistic
She was deaf. The first ear was from a childhood virus, but she lost hearing in her second ear when rice from her wedding became lodged in her ear. The doctor punctured her ear drum trying to remove it!
She said it didn’t bother her, because then she could never hear anyone say “NO!”
Text Box: From the back veranda, you can see the garden. Most likely in her days, they would have had chickens and livestock running around down here! It was a nice place to cool off in a rocking chair—Savannah style
