Walney ParkText Box: Today the kids and I went to Walney Park in Centreville. At first there were grumbles...but, once we got there, they didn’t want to leave. Hard to believe we could find this much ‘wildlife’ in the heart of Fairfax Co!
Text Box: Box turtles, rat snakes and caterpillars (I know) all were out today to sun themselves! Many wildflowers accompanied the wild life around the park.
Text Box: Can you find it?
Text Box: The pond was overflowing with life! We saw the biggest bullfrog we have ever seen in Virginia! Toad tadpoles (which we now call ‘toadpoles’) lily pads, dragon flys and fish guarding their nests were all around the pond. Not to mention bunches of various vegetation! We spent a long time here today.
Text Box: At the visitors center we explored the original farm house, smoke house, garden, ruins of the dairy barn and saw honey bees hard at work. You could smell the honey outside the hives! COOL!
