Balancing Act

Recently while visiting Martinzoo’s website I saw she was trying to balance an egg for the equinox.  We did this, either last year, or the year before.  I became convinced that the ONLY time the egg could or would balance was on the equinox.  Today is March 25th, clearly, we have passed to prime of the equinox.  So, I used REGULAR OLD (and probably are ‘old’) COSTCO EGGS.  The two pack.  Because, in my house, as much as I’d like to have organic picked up from the chickens behind that day eggs, my people eat about a ten a day, so that is just not working for us.  So then, I set forth to balance.  I did not use salt (ahem) and I did try it in several directions so sometimes it was easier than others, but it did not seem to matter which direction I did it on.  Wrinkled or smooth it was all good...so, here you go!

One egg.  On corian.  It should be noted, I had FOUR eggs up...when my darling son came bounding through the kitchen and knocked them all down.  This is round two—after they have been banished!

Two eggs up.  This one is bumpy side up...ahem.

These are three eggs, and four eggs...all on the countertop...which I did wipe down ahead of time so it didn’t have any salt (ahem) or other stick icky things from my four little hoodlums on it.  Nice clean smooth surface.  Then I thought...maybe it has something to do with the countertop.  So, let’s see what happened on a glass table top.

Viola!

And, I have the underneath shot, whereby you can see there are no strings, sticky substances, or…(ahem) salt.  So, clearly the equinox has no bearing on the ability to balance an egg.  It’s all about center of gravity baby…
