Back to LifeBack to Reality

Truly, part of me will always love singing 80’s songs to my kids—and 70’s songs, (or is it 60s)—Like when I sing “Girl, You’ll be a woman soon…” to Audrey—but, we have said a final goodbye to all our friends and family who have kept our house hoppin’ since early November—so, I thought I should take a moment to recap, before I break out the text books tomorrow:

First, my Mom came, just before Cade’s birthday.  I know Mom, this photo was from xmas, but, clearly you didn’t stay long enough to warrant a photo opt, so—I choose this lovely photo of you cooking oysters (ewwww).

On Cade’s birthday, came Grandma Martha, (Matt’s Mom) for the holidays.  She, and Harbour, were in charge of making sure my man did not burn down the house with the turkey fryer on Thanksgiving.  She stayed for a nice long visit, just leaving today (Jan 9th) much to the kids  sorrow!

In the first part of December we had a quick visit from the Herth girls, under sad circumstances, the loss of Nina’s grandmother.

Then came my people for the Christmas holiday.  Brother Jon, Mom and Dad descended, and what a Merry Christy-mas we had!

Then, the Herth’s came back, and the Balmanno’s came from MN—and we had a week long reunion that was the dream party for my 12 year old.

And, in those two months, we had six birthday parties, four holiday celebrations, went to the park, National Cathedral, bowling, dog sledding, Harris Teeter, Washington DC, Natural History Museum, Fort McHenry, Christmas Caroling, had piano recitals, made clay creatures, grew crystals, made countless Christmas cookies and had lots of laughs, good times and love from all our family and friends.

So, a big thanks to all of you who came and made our holiday last so long, and mean so much.  We will remember it for a long time—but, the real reason I am writing all this—is because tomorrow morning when I tell the kids to unearth their math books—and they say they are bored, don’t wanna, are sad because it is all over, I want them to remember how great it was—and how long it lasted!  Back to life, back to reality.

Who sings that anyhow?
