A Power Tool PumpkinText Box: Like most things in our house...pumpkin carving is a tradition. We generally go about it in the same manner every year. It usually ends up happening just before Halloween...and then there was the year I carved a turkey on the pumpkin, because we didn’t carve it until Thanksgiving—but, this year, on schedule we decide to carve pumpkins at 930 at night, two days before Halloween. Hey, we homeschool, so it is all good. But this year had a little change...
Text Box: We added power tools. Yes, we did. I saw it on the TODAY show. You put a beater on a power drill to get the ‘guts’ out of the pumpkin. Now, when I first saw this I was skeptical...but I am here to tell you—it works like a charm! You can see the kids look skeptical, shocked, and then amazed! It made quick work of the guts, and when you are finished you just dump them out! My man was in charge of gathering the seeds for pumpkin seeds.
Text Box: Soon, Spencer was ready to give it a try! Meanwhile, I was getting out the jig saw— okay, it was a little overkill...but, FAST!
Text Box: Then there is dear sweet Audrey. She is just a traditional kind of girl. She would have no part of the power tools—she said she actually LIKED scooping out the guts by hand! Then, she drew out the design and carved the entire thing...BY HAND. She did a beautiful job...but I was all about the power tools this season.
The seeds were scooped and separated, covered in salt and broiled until crispy. They are a favorite of my mans...so I put him on that.
When they were finished, we lit them up! Can you figure out who belongs to who?
